Founded in 1958 by Lebanese entrepreneur, Farouk Ghandour, who was later joined by his brother, Metito current Chairman, Mutaz Ghandour, in 1966.

1972
First company to introduce a reverse Osmosis desalination plant for drinking water outside the United States.

1977
Metito established manufacturing facilities in Houston, Texas and an engineering and design support center in Wimbledon, London.

1999
Expanded into the concessions business and pioneers concession contracts with private entities in the United Arab Emirates and Egypt.

Metito commissioned the first ever Public-Private Partnership wastewater treatment plant in MENA, Dubai Investment Park, UAE.

2007
Revised its corporate structure to reflect diversification strategy and created MUL (incorporated in Guernsey). IFC acquired a minority stake in the Group through capital increase.

Metito and Berlinwasser formed BCH to invest in water and wastewater projects in China, with 51% shareholding by Metito.

Metito acquired the remaining 49% stake in BCH.

Mitsubishi and JBIC acquired a stake in Metito.

Metito divested 100% of its China operations as part of a successful capital recycling event, after growing the business in China from 2 to 11 projects over 9 years.

Metito Water Projects (Metipro; formerly Metito Design and Build business line) executed “Al Mahsamma” Project, the 2nd largest agricultural waste & water reuse plant, Egypt. Capacity: 1,000,000 m3/day.

Metipro executed the “Galala” Project, the largest seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant in Egypt. Capacity: 150,000 m3/day

Metito Utilities commissioned the first Public-Private Partnership bulk water treatment plant in Sub-Saharan Africa, Rwanda. Capacity: 40,000 m3/day.

Metipro executed the desalination plant supplying the futuristic city NEOM. KSA. The plant is co-powered by solar energy. Capacity:125,000 m3/day.

Metito Utilities is developing the first independent wastewater treatment plant in Dammam, KSA. Capacity: 200,000 m3/day expandable to 350,000 m3/day.

Metipro awarded the O&M of Doha South Catchment Zone, Qatar. Capacity: 2,200,000 m3/day.

Metipro is developing the iconic desalination plants on floating barges, the largest operating of their kind globally, for KSA. Capacity: 3*50,000 m3/day

Metipro is developing, as part of a JV, the “New Delta” Project, the world largest agricultural waste & water reuse plant, Egypt. Capacity: 7,500,000 m3/day.
